Living History Museum

Run by former teacher Robin Wichard the Living History Mobile Museum provides artefacts and presentations to schools, colleges and other organisations as required, on a broad range of topics. The talks are all supported with a wealth of original artefacts each with its own story to tell. The Museum is also involved in the organisation of Heritage Events, most notably the WSR 40s Weekends (including Watchet) and the forthcoming WSR 1960s Diesel Gala. The Museum is represented on the Watchet CCT by Sara Summers.

Onion Collective

Onion Collective is a social enterprise working to support a different kind of economy, one that supports social, environmental and cultural well-being. We ground our work in the everyday values of community: connectedness, curiosity, plurality, compassion and solidarity. We run a number of regeneration projects in Watchet where any profits that are made are reinvested back into the projects or into the community.  Our three flagship projects are East Quay Arts and cultural venue, Watchet Visitor Centre and Biomill Watchet, a pilot project exploring fungus-based materials.

West Somerset Railway (WSR)

The West Somerset Railway is the longest standard gauge heritage railway in the UK, running for 22 miles from Bishop’s Lydeard to Minehead in Somerset, with intermediate stations between. When designed as a branch line of the GWR by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and built-in 1862, Watchet station in the centre of town was the original terminus of the line until later extended to Minehead. It operates steam and diesel services throughout most of the year, with details and bookings available on the WSR website.
